#2. Is the colour black still fashionably cool?

Celine certainly know it still is. Their award winning store in New Bond Street uses black to great effect. The original concept indicated there was going to be a strong theme of black materials in use through the marble floor, metal fixturing & artwork. Using minimalist frames, combined with sleek elements of wood & gold, it’s nicely paired with these other natural materials. Rather than dominate, the black elements dance elegantly with the contrasting light & textures

Black has long been associated with cool in a sense of style and fashion. In fashion, black has been used by many iconic figures and cultural movements, such as the "little black dress" popularized by Coco Chanel, the "beatnik" style of the 1950s and the "goth" subculture of the 1980s, which have all helped to establish black as the iconic colour of cool.

In architecture, black is often used to create a sense of drama, elegance and sophistication across multiple building styles. Additionally, black's ability to be paired with any other colour and its modern minimalist look, make it a trendy choice for many architects & designers. Celine certainly still dig it, as do we.
